Disney’s Polynesian Resort
Not everyone can afford to go to Tahiti, but you can feel like you have been to the Polynesian islands by staying at Disney’s Polynesian Resort. This hotel is built in a Tahitian style and is decorated in all the deep, tropical colors of that region. In the Ceremonial house, there is a waterfall built over volcanic rocks and coconut palms reach towards the sky. Disney’s Polynesian Resort is a Deluxe hotel.
Nightly at Disney’s Polynesian Resort, there is a torch lighting ceremony and a fire dance so that you get the full island experience. The landscapers keep up with over 75 indigenous species of plants to make sure it looks just like a Polynesian resort overseas. You can easily head to the park but between enjoy the serenity of the island paradise. Situated near the other Magic Kingdom hotels, you are just a quick Monorail ride away from the Magic Kingdom or a shuttle ride away from the other parks on the property.
One of the most popular things to do at Disney’s Polynesian Resort is to rent a cabana right on the beach. You can hang out by the pool and order food and enjoying the water. There is fishing and bike rentals where you can go out on the various trails. You can also hang out in one of the hammocks and read a book. Mikala Canoe Club marina allows you to rent different types of watercraft’s so you can enjoy the water speeding around or lazily rowing around.
There are two heated pools at Disney’s Polynesian Resort; one is the Nanea Volcano Pool with a 40-foot volcano and a waterfall. You can ride the waterside down into the pool. The Poly East Pool is a “quiet” pool for those who just want to relax. The Moana Mickey’s arcade allows kids to run wild and play video games. The adults can head over to the spa for treatments or out on the jogging trail for some exercise.
Disney’s Polynesian Resort – Food Choices
Disney’s Polynesian Resort is some very popular restaurants they we love. For a truly Tahitian experience head over to ‘Ohana, this tropically themed restaurant offers family-style service with excellent food. This gives you a chance to try a number of different foods including meats that are grilled over an oak fire. Disney’s Spirit of Aloha Dinner Show is an all-you-can-eat dinner with a South Pacific island show while you dine. You will see hula dancers and fire knife eaters as well as hear some great music. Kona Cafe is the least popular of the Disney’s Polynesian Resort Restaurants, but this restaurant has some great food and is worth trying.
If you are looking for something casual and quick when staying or visiting Disney’s Polynesian Resort, head to Captain Cooks. This quick service restaurant serves all meals and you just run in and grab what you are looking for. In addition to the American fare you can choose sushi rolls in the evening. Captain Cooks is a great place to grab quick food as well with pizza, burgers, salad and various fresh fruits. For the grown-ups, head up to the Tambu Lounge for some adult beverages. You do have many dining options when staying at Disney’s Polynesian Resort. While we never do stay at Disney’s Polynesian Resort we do visit this hotel the most due to their dining options.
Disney’s Polynesian Resort – Room Sizes and Styles
No matter where you stay at Disney’s Polynesian Resort you will feel like you are in the grass huts of the islands. You can choose between a 2-bedroom suite that sleeps eight or nine people for large parties. There is one full bathroom with a whirlpool tub and a half bath. These suites are two stories and have plenty of room for a family. Standard rooms can sleep up to five or you can choose the king bed room that only sleeps two if you are having a romantic getaway.
All the Disney’s Polynesian Resort rooms have daily room service available if you don’t want to leave the room to eat and if you are a “club” member you get nightly turn down service and a printed itinerary of your daily activities. All rooms come with a refrigerator, microwave and coffeemaker so you can take care of some things while you are in the room. Wi-Fi is freely available throughout the resort.
