Blue Bayou

Blue Bayou is a very unique, busy and interesting restaurant located in the New Orleans Square inside Disneyland Park. Blue Bayou is situated in the same building that houses Pirates of the Caribbean but the entrance is in a completely different area from the ride. Since Blue Bayou is located in Disneyland, you do have to buy tickets to the park to eat here. Blue Bayou is such a beautiful place that some people may think your visit was incomplete without dining here. The Blue Bayou Restaurant is a restaurant which you will want to make reservations to, as it can be popular and it does fill up.

The Blue Bayou Restaurant has a different feel from most. Even at lunch, you’re transported to what feels like a Louisiana bayou-side restaurant for an evening meal.  The Blue Bayou Restaurant is decorated with paper lanterns above giving just enough light to see, but not enough to distract. You feel like your table is in its own little world. The ambiance is also great as you get to see the stars overhead and fireflies and you get to hear the crickets and the frogs. If you arrive early, you can request a table by the water and you can see the guests on the Pirates of the Caribbean ride.

Blue Bayou is not only my favorite restaurant in Disneyland but it is loved by my family as well. Blue Bayou Restaurant is an elegant restaurant, and it is a nice break from the crazy pace of Disneyland. You’re never rushed at the Blue Bayou and you’re made to feel very welcome. When you arrive and are seated you’re given your menus and children are given a pirate hat menu.

The Blue Bayou has some really interesting items that appear on both the lunch and dinner menus including the Buccaneer’s Boneless Short Ribs, Royal Street Seafood Jambalaya, Tesoro Island Chicken, Roasted Beef Strip Loin, Cajun-Spiced Salmon, Isla-Cruces Crab Cakes, and Portobello Mushroom and Couscous Macque Choux.

The lunch menu also includes Le Special de Monte Cristo. The Monte Cristo is a favorite of many. This sandwich has turkey, ham, and Swiss cheese. The sandwich is egg battered and fried to a golden brown color. The exciting part of the Monte Cristo sandwich that kids may want to try is that this fried sandwich is lightly dusted with powdered sugar. It’s really good, but it’s only available on the regular lunch menu, not the kids menu.

The dinner service is from about 4:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. In addition to the items that are also available on the lunch menu, the dinner menu contains the following: Bayou Surf & Turf and Filet Mignon. When we went for dinner I tried the Buccaneer’s Boneless Short Ribs, which is available for both lunch and dinner and I really enjoyed them.

When I am on vacation I strongly believe that without a dessert your meal is incomplete. The desserts they have at Blue Bayou are; Crème Brulee, Chocolate Cake, Pecan Pie, and various flavors of Ice Cream. I had the Crème Brulee, and it was delicious.

Each time I have dined at Blue Bayou, I have been satisfied with the service. The wait staff has always been attentive, even refilling my drinks quickly as I tend to get parched while walking around the park. The drinks were served shortly after we were seated and our glasses were refilled by waiters without asking. My recommendation to all Disneyland visitors is to visit Blue Bayou and you will surely find it superb.  The dining costs are higher here, but the quality more than makes up for it.

When you do look to make a Blue Bayou reservation, you can call 714-781-3463. Make sure you do make a reservation to dine here.
