One of the most beautiful areas in the Downtown Disney District area of the Disneyland Resort is, undoubtedly, the area where you can find the Catal Restaurant and the Uva Bar & Cafe. A remarkable aspect of the outside seating area of Catal Restaurant and Uva Bar is that it is one of the most interestingly lit areas of the entire Disney franchise, giving the feeling of being in the middle of a carnival at night with the lights lit up on the fairway and the attractions shining with multi-colored glows.

The building housing Catal Restaurant is beautifully designed in the shape of an arc, with a two-story tower at one end of the building. The Catal Restaurant second floor terrace provides a beautiful dining place, which is ideal if you want to be surrounded by warm lights in the evening and a panoramic view of the Downtown Disney District. Though the Catal Restaurant outside seating is not suited to you if you do not find the multitude of lights to be an attraction, the Catal Restaurant still features great indoor seats that are waiting for a reservation to be made. This is not necessary, though, but the they might get crowded and you might lose your preferred seat.

Catal Restaurant Menu

As the cuisine of the the Catal Restaurant is oriented towards a healthy selection of Mediterranean recipes, you can start off your evening with a dish of Chickpea Croquettes served with cucumber tzatziki, hot sauce and cilantro. Other than that, a plate of Pimientos de padron is another great choice as an appetizer: a dish of blistered small green peppers, Espelette pepper and juicy lemon garlic emulsion.

A dish of braised boneless short ribs may be ideal for the Main Course at Catal Restaurant. If you find such a meal to be too hard for your stomach, try a dish of Bucatini Pasta to delight your taste buds, the piquillo pepper tomato sauce and the albondigas meatballs are specially added to the recipe in order to create a tasty dish, fully enjoyable until the end.

As mentioned earlier, Catal Restaurant resembles the scene of fair grounds that used to please the kids in the past, and they also feature special menus designed to please the kids nowadays. Your child can choose between a selection of tasty Catal Restaurant dishes, starting with an All Beef Hot Dog served with French fries and ending with Macaroni served with your child’s choice of sauce. However, they can also choose between a couple of chicken recipes such as crispy chicken fingers and grilled chicken breast, both of which are served with French fries. A delicious meal on the Catal Restaurant menu if your child has a more refined palate would be the Grilled Flank Steak served with mashed potatoes and mixed vegetables.

The breakfasts at the Catal Restaurant are pretty standard fair, a few selections with a slight twist to make them a bit more upscale, like the Brioche French Toast and the selection of specialty omelets offered.

Catal Restaurant and Uva Bar are linked not only by ownership, but also by decoration, while Catal is technically located within a large building housing shops on most of the ground floor, Uva Bar is the vibrant, outgoing carnival attraction of lights that you’ll find in the middle of the path through Downtown Disney. Uva Bar does not accept reservations, but is open for lunch and dinner for those seeking alcoholic refreshments, quick snacks, and sit down meals in a unique environment.

The items served at Uva Bar range from simple to upscale bar snacks, along with main courses and a simple dessert menu. The snack offerings include a variety of dishes like guacamole, calamari, and tuna tartare tacos, a well as a couple salad selections. The entrees are predominantly seafood, but also include a steak and a fried chicken offering, as well as couple of delicious gourmet burgers including one made from house ground lamb. Side dishes include sea salt garlic fries, sweet potato fries, and asparagus. The understated dessert menu offers unique milkshakes, cheesecake with fresh fruit, an ice cream sandwich which is the chef’s special, and a root beer float made with homemade Tahitian Vanilla ice cream.

Catal Restaurant is worth checking out especially if you are staying close and you don’t want to drive to check out some of the other local fare.
