The Portobello restaurant is found in the Downtown Disney’s Marketplace of the Walt Disney World resort. The view which can be seen from this restaurant includes the Lake Buena Vista Lagoon. The ambiance and atmosphere inside Portobello is similar to that of a luxury restaurant which can be found on a cruise ship. The name of the restaurant is symbolic of the cuisine served in Italy. Veterans in the world of Italian cuisine like Tony Mantuano have compiled the menu for this restaurant. The most traditional and authentic flavors of Italy can be sampled through the food in this restaurant. Lunch and dinner are the only meals served at Portobello.
Apart from world class food, world class wines are also served here. The exhaustive wine list at Portobellois broken down into red wine, white wine and sparkling wine, offered by the glass or bottle. Special Italian wines have also been imported and made available in the Portobello restaurant as well as other special reserve offerings. The cordials menu includes Cognac and Brandy selections as well as grappa, port and sherry. Beer and cocktails are also available on the menu apart from some traditional
Italian non-alcoholic beverages.
Portobello Menu
The Portobello menu contains appetizers as well as soups and salads. The entrees have been divided into three sections: pasta and pizza for lunch and dinner and sandwiches for lunch which is replaced by the steaks, seafood and chicken selections for dinner. A special section has also been created for the antipasti platters.
Portobello appetizer selections are rather varied. Three types of crostini can be served as an appetizer. Shrimp and calamari comprise the seafood servings for an appetizer, but you’ll also find the meatball sliders that can be made using beef, veal, chicken or pork.
Vegetarian and non-vegetarian options can be found on the menu at Portobello. The vegetarian appetizers are the eggplant fries served with tomato basil sauce and the house salad which contains lots of greens apart from the mozzarella stuffed rice balls. There is also a vegetarian sandwich selection on the lunch menu.
The antipasti platters are signature dishes of the chef at Portobello. Prosciutto is the main ingredient in these platters along with crostini, farm vegetables, and bocconcini and ricotta cheese. One such platter will be enough to feed four people.
The sandwich portion of the Portobello lunch menu includes a meatball sandwich as well as a beef brisket option, along with several others. The pasta at Portobello is served in many different ways. The simplest way is served with tomato basil sauce or with tomatoes and parmesan cream sauce. It can be served with pork and beef as well as sausages and mushrooms. There is also a pasta dish served with clams and cooked using lemon, white wine and garlic. The dinner menu at Portobello has more options with regard to pasta as well as their selection of steak, seafood and chicken offerings. The dessert menu contains gelato, which is a traditional Italian dessert, in various flavors as well as a flourless chocolate cake, white chocolate custard and a rich chocolate cake as well as Portobello’s own unique take on the traditional tiramisu. Interesting varieties of coffee and cappuccino along with the regular versions can also be found on the dessert menu.
Portobello is a restaurant that is worth the experience and when it comes to the restaurants within Downtown Disney. It is highly known for the garlic bread, but can be regarded by some as no better than the olive garden. However others really like it, in the end make sure the menu and pricing suits your budget. There is no restaurant that everyone loves.
