The Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom is a new interactive game located at the Magic Kingdom in Walt Disney World. Players of the Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom face off against Hades as well as many other Disney villains in an effort to save the Magic Kingdom.

Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom Review

I recently got to spend some time in Orlando and stayed at the Bay Lake Tower at Disney’s Contemporary.  Being so close to the Magic Kingdom, it was perfect that I should become hopelessly addicted to the Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom game. Instead of riding my favorite ride, Haunted Mansion btw, I found myself running from Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom portal to portal repeatedly to beat the game and get another set of cards. I met many employees of Disney and many locals playing Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom and trading the cards – as everyone is looking to complete a set. Everyone playing Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom was incredibly nice and helped me to complete two sets within two weeks. You should check out Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom when visiting and play for yourself (it is a great way to get some exercise), you might get as addicted as I was.

Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom Story

Hades is looking to take over the Magic Kingdom. His obstacle is Merlin the wizard and his magic crystal that can defeat any evil. He enlists Pain and Panic to steal it, and when they attempt to do so, it is broken into eight pieces and spread thought the Magic Kingdom. Hades now wants to get the pieces before Merlin can. He will now recruit other Disney villains to help him do so. To stop him, Merlin gives you a Map, a Key, and five spell cards to start the battle against the villains and save the Magic Kingdom.

Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom Leveling Up

Leveling up is currently not working, mainly due to the lines for the Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom growing extremely long when it was on during testing several months ago. How does it work? When the Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom leveling up is back on, once you beat the game you will level up, at that point, not every card will beat the villains. I have been told that you need to think of the villains before you play the card. So, Scar would probably be defeated by Simba and Rafiki.

You can also level up your Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom cards. The more you play the cards, the stronger they will become. You will find that the Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom card animations will change to be stronger. If you don’t play the Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom for a while, the levels will go back down.

Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom Combos

Combos are accomplished by holding more than 1 card up in front of the portal when it’s time to attack your villain. I’ve seen as many as 4 cards work together. Since the leveling up is not working right now, the combos don’t do much at the moment except create multiple graphics when you attack.

Try different Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom combos as they can be pretty cool when they are working together! Post your favorite Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom combos below.

Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom Trading

The Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom trading is pretty simple and the other players will generally police each other so kids don’t get taken advantage of. People generally trade 1 Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom card for 1 card, with “star” cardsSorcerers of the Magic Kingdom Poster 2 225x300 Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom Guide being the rarer trades that everyone wants to make.  The “star” cards are card numbers 1-22 which have a little star above the card number at the bottom left of the Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom card. If by some fluke you get an ultra rare “lightning” card, numbers 61-70, you will definitely want to hold onto it.

The locals will trade Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom cards daily in Tortuga Tavern daily at 6pm. You will find the people trading will have the cards spread out on the table. Just show them what Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom cards you have to trade and depending on the card, they will trade.

When it comes to trading Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom cards, just ask! The worst someone can do is say no or that they don’t have what you need. Eventually, you will find the cards you’re asking for.

Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom 61-70 Lightning Cards

The Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom “lightning” cards will be released in a special booster pack that will be for a home trading card version of the game. This home version of the game is where you will be able to get the Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom 61-70 cards as well as other surprises in the future. The home version of Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom will feature 4 different boards for some of the villains and will be for those 6 and up and you will be able to find it in the Magic Kingdom as well as at the Disney Store online.

The Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom booster packs will be released on 8/17/2012 at the emporium in the Magic Kingdom and hopefully online as well. When I do hear about the rarity of the 61-70 cards I will post an update so subscribe to this page.

Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom Tips

  1. When you beat the game you will get another pack of cards and can choose where you will restart. I like to get Main Street done, but if it’s getting late, ask for Fantasyland. They will close the area for fireworks.
  2. Play early in the morning or when it rains for the shortest lines. I talked to one guy playing and he beat the whole thing in 2.5 hours, but that was with minimal to no lines at the portals.
  3. If you have multiple people in your party, you can get packs for everyone, yet play with only one key. Sure does make it easy to complete a set then.
  4. You’ll see people playing the game with their cards in multiple types of holders.  The one I prefer is just a collector card book that you can get for a few bucks at Walmart. These are usually located up near the registers with the baseball and other collector cards. This is also a lot less expensive than buying something from Disney to keep your cards in.

Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom Villains

Merlin will send you to face off against 8 different villains in multiple lands. At least that’s what happens in the beginner level currently available to play. From what I’ve seen, there may be different villains at each of the levels, once leveling up is turned back on. I won’t break down the story as I don’t want to spoil it.

Adventureland - Jafar, Yzma & Scar

Fantasyland – Maleficent & Ursula

Frontierland - Dr. Facilier & Ratcliffe

Main Street U.S.A. – Cruella de Vil

Once you defeat these eight villains you will get a chance to go after Hades and you get to face Chernabog.  When you’re done with that you will level up (if that’s on) and you can go back to the fire station or the stand in Liberty Square and get a new pack of Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom cards.
