Walt Disney World Transportation System

When traveling to Disney World, you may have to take the various types of transport to get to restaurants or other parks. The Walt Disney World Transportation System is great when staying onsite. You don’t need to rent a car, as you can get everywhere you need. The Walt Disney World Transportation System consists of Buses, boats, and the Monorail.

So, who is allowed to use the Walt Disney World Transportation System?

If you are staying onsite, if you have a park hopper pass, or if you have an annual pass you are granted full access to the system. Disney doesn’t check any of this when you board. It is possible to never have to take anything but the Walt Disney World Transportation System for your whole vacation when you visit Disney World. This will end up saving you money, and it a big perk to staying on-site.

Walt Disney World Transportation System – The Disney Bus System

This will be the most frequent mode of transport. You can travel to the Resorts, Theme Parks, and Water Parks from the buses. They will also take you to Downtown Disney – both the West Side and the Marketplace. If you are staying onsite there can be alternate ways to get to your hotel or to the parks. Some resorts have access to the Monorail or to Disney Boats. Some destinations may even take transferring to a different bus. I know we found it complicated getting to the Fort Wilderness lodge due to this – as there is a bus transfer. However, the Walt Disney World Transportation System and its buses aren’t much trouble.

Walt Disney World Transportation System – Boat

You have the option to be ferried by boat on the Walt Disney World Transportation System to the following locations…

To/From: The Magic Kingdom
• Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, Disney’s Polynesian Resort, Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground, Disney’s Wilderness Lodge, Transportation and Ticket Center.

Walt Disney World Transportation System – Monorail

One of the cooler modes of transport in the Walt Disney World Transportation System is the Monorail. The monorail system has three tracks; The first goes from the Ticket & Transportation Center to Epcot, the second (the Express) goes straight from the Ticket & Transportation Center to Magic Kingdom, and the Third will go from the Ticket & Transportation Center and has the following stops:

• Magic Kingdom
• Disney’s Contemporary Resort
• Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa
• Disney’s Polynesian Resort

The Walt Disney World Transportation System can be complicated, but not having a rental car will save you money – it is worth using. It will take you time to get places, and you should make sure you do plan for it in your schedule. If you have dining plans and plan on taking one of these Walt Disney World Transportation System options. You will need to consider when they start as well as how long at the most it will take you to get there. When we stay at Port Orleans Riverside and we had to go to Disney’s Contemporary Hotel and Chef Mickey’s for breakfast, we took the Walt Disney World Transportation System Bus and still had to run from Magic Kingdom all the way to the hotel to make it in time. With proper planning you wont be running anywhere. When you use the Walt Disney World Transportation System and your making dining reservations, you need to consider when the Walt Disney World Transportation System opens up in the morning as well as when it closes at night. Doing so will help to make sure you get there in time. The Walt Disney World Transportation System isnt always on time, and planning for a late bus is better than getting to your restaurant late.
